Job Description
Role Overview
The Relationship Manager is responsible for providing a relationship-based offering to high net-worth (HNW) affluent individuals through a pro-active, highly responsive personal approach to meet the financial needs and service expectations of these clients. The job holder will operate as a dedicated and primary point of contact, providing financial solutions aligned with the segment value proposition. By leveraging the group’s reach and expertise, the job holder will add value to both the customer and the bank while maintaining high levels of integrity, professionalism, and ethical standards.
Note: The job holder MUST be based in the Pwani Region.
Key Responsibilities
Client Acquisition: Acquire new HNW affluent customers according to criteria outlined in the segment value proposition and Country segment strategy.
Portfolio Management: Proactively identify cross-sell opportunities within the portfolio and manage it to maximize revenue while minimizing costs and risks.
Needs Analysis: Conduct comprehensive needs analysis with new and existing customers to ensure product opportunities are appropriate to their goals and lifecycle priorities.
Relationship Building: Establish and strengthen one-on-one relationships based on mutual respect to retain customers and gain word-of-mouth referrals.
Service Excellence: Ensure superior service delivery aligned to SLAs and turnaround time commitments. Educate customers on self-service channels (Internet Banking, ATMs, and Mobile Banking).
Lending & Credit: Inform customers regarding lending application processes (vehicle finance, home loans, credit cards, etc.) and manage credit risks, including completion of referral reports and timely reviews.
Specialist Introduction: Introduce customers to SME, Corporate, or wealth specialists when required to entrench the holistic relationship with the bank.
Team Leadership: Manage subordinates (Relationship Officers/Private Banker’s Assistants) in accordance with HR performance management best practices.
Risk & Compliance: Manage operational risks and maintain accurate customer records on bank systems, ensuring data integrity.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Relevant business or financial qualification (BA/BSc/HND).
Experience: Previous banking experience, preferably dealing with high net-worth individuals in a portfolio context.
Sales Background: Strong sales background with experience in completing credit applications successfully.
Market Knowledge: Understanding of the HNW/affluent market profile, lifestyle, and financial needs.
Product Knowledge: Sound knowledge of banking products, channels, pricing, and self-service options relevant to the HNW market.
Technical Skills: Ability to interpret financial statements, assess sources of income, and perform customer affordability calculations.
Credit Knowledge: Thorough understanding of credit principles and maintenance processes.
Software Literacy: High levels of computer literacy to manage customer databases and lending applications.
Skills and Competencies
