Rail Safety Manager

Kenya Railways is seeking a highly qualified Rail Safety Manager to oversee and enhance safety standards across the corporation's rail network. This critical role involves identifying risks, formulating safety policies, and ensuring full compliance with railway safety regulations to maintain a secure operating environment for all stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct periodic reviews of safety risks within the Corporation.
• Lead the formulation and review of safety policies of the Corporation as appropriate.
• Carry out independent accident investigations on major railway accidents and enforce compliance with safety standards.
• Maintain an up-to-date databank of major accidents reported by rail operators and prepare reports as required.
• Develop safety training and awareness programs for all stakeholders.
• Develop and implement Emergency Response and Incidents Management plans.

Requirements of the Job

• Master’s Degree in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, or Telecommunication Engineering (or equivalent) from a recognized Institution.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, or Telecommunication Engineering (or equivalent) from a recognized Institution.
• A Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant work experience, with at least five (5) years’ experience in a Senior Management position.
• Completion of a management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
• Registered as a Safety Officer or Member of a relevant professional body and in good standing.
• Strong knowledge of mechanism and control systems.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
