The ideal candidate for the Quality Control Manager (Agriculture) role will have strong knowledge of fresh produce quality standards, food safety compliance, and packhouse operations, with the ability to uphold high-quality standards in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect incoming berries and monitor grading, sorting, packing, and cold chain processes to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Conduct final product quality checks before dispatch to ensure customer and export specifications are met.
- Implement and monitor food safety and quality systems in line with GLOBALG.A.P., BRC, SMETA, HACCP, and customer requirements.
- Ensure packhouse hygiene, sanitation, and food safety standards are consistently maintained.
- Maintain accurate quality control records, inspection reports, and traceability documentation, and support internal and external audits.
- Train packhouse staff on quality standards, hygiene, and proper handling practices, and work with operational teams to resolve quality issues.
Key Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Quality Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in quality control within a fresh produce or soft fruit packhouse environment.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and quality standards, including GLOBALG.A.P., BRC, SMETA, and HACCP.
- Experience handling highly perishable products, particularly berries or similar fresh produce.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Good communication, teamwork, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
