Africa Global Logistics (AGL), a leading multimodal logistics operator in Africa and part of the MSC family, is seeking a QHSE Controller to oversee operations at the KBL Warehouse. The role is critical in ensuring that all activities align with international quality, health, safety, and environmental standards, as well as local statutory regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Auditing & Compliance: Conduct regular audits to minimize nonconforming activities and identify opportunities for operational improvement.
Environmental Protection: Monitor company activities to prevent environmental pollution and ensure compliance with environmental standards.
Safety Management: Maintain a secure, safe, and healthy working environment across the entire site for all staff and visitors.
Training & Development: Identify QHSE training needs, facilitate delivery, and conduct regular toolbox meetings to discuss safety matters with teams.
Incident Management: Report all incidents and accidents occurring on-site and ensure full compliance with statutory reporting requirements.
Reporting: Prepare and submit detailed periodic reports to the QHSE Manager-Supply Chain to assist in executive decision-making.
Emergency Preparedness: Establish emergency response procedures and evacuation plans, ensuring all personnel are trained on procedures and assembly points.
Safety Committees: Form and lead a Health, Safety, and Environment Committee that adheres to AGL Group regulations and local legislation.
PPE Oversight: Ensure that high-quality personal protective equipment (PPE) is available and sufficient for all employees.
Contract Review: Review service provider contracts to ensure that health, safety, and environmental clauses are appropriately integrated.
Onboarding: Induct new employees and contractors on site-specific health, safety, and environmental policies.
Operational Support: Manage requisitions for departmental supplies to ensure uninterrupted safety operations.
Requirements
Education: A Bachelor's Degree (BA/BSc) or a Higher National Diploma (HND) in a relevant field.
Technical Knowledge: Understanding of health, safety, and environmental management systems and auditing.
Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with local OSH (Occupational Safety and Health) acts and environmental legislation.
