Role Overview
This is the entry and training grade for the Public Health Officer cadre within the Narok County Government. An officer at this level works under the supervision of a senior officer, focusing on community health assessments, environmental safety, and the implementation of sanitation programs.
Duties and Responsibilities
Identify environmental health issues at the community level and assess local health needs.
Coordinate sanitation and hygiene programs within the community.
Sensitize communities on food and water safety measures to prevent disease.
Conduct training sessions for Public Health Trainees, Community Own Resource Persons (CORPS), Community-based Health Workers (CHWS), and Community Health Committees (CHCs).
Implement various environmental health programs and projects.
Collect water and food samples for bacteriological and chemical analysis.
Initiate and implement Community-Based Health Care programs.
Implement integrated mosquito control and other public health strategies.
Monitor and follow up on the proper collection and disposal of solid waste in markets and dwelling premises.
Carry out disease surveillance, prevention, and control measures.
Coordinate immunization programs within the assigned jurisdiction.
Requirements for Appointment
A Bachelor’s degree in either Environmental Health or Public Health from a recognized Institution.
A Registration Certificate from the Public Health Officers and Technicians Council.
A valid practicing license from the Public Health Officers and Technicians Council.
A Certificate in computer application skills (considered an added advantage).
Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
