Working jointly with the Project Coordinator in the Nourish to Thrive Project, the Project Officer will support project implementation and monitoring of Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH) interventions, ensuring successful execution of health activities aimed at improving MNCH outcomes.
Core Responsibilities
Programmatic and Technical Support
Participate in and support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of MNCH activities in accordance with project deliverables.
Facilitate the development of work plans and budgets for health activities.
Take the lead in implementing MNCH interventions as per the established work plan.
Work closely with existing Ministry of Health (MOH) structures to ensure integration and alignment of project and MOH activities.
Represent World Vision Kenya (WVK) in county and sub-county maternal and child health technical working groups (TWGs) and other relevant meetings as needed.
Engage with the MOH County and Sub-County Health Management teams to ensure successful implementation of MNCH activities, including sharing of work plans.
Ensure the integration of nutrition into health interventions to achieve a higher impact.
Ensure effective integration of project interventions with other WVK projects within the program sites.
Design, Monitoring, Evaluation, Reporting, and Documentation
Utilize Maternal and Child Health national and county M&E tools, adhering to set targets and reporting timelines.
Monitor project interventions in strict compliance with WV Kenya, Ministry of Health, and other agreed reporting standards.
Ensure project data is captured, validated, and updated in the WVK reporting system and other approved DM&E systems.
Liaise with national office technical specialists for technical support in project design.
Provide budget oversight and ensure strict adherence to approved plans and budgets.
Coordinate the timely development and submission of quality reports per project and donor requirements.
Support the documentation of lessons learned and project success stories.
Gather and provide quality feedback and data to develop technical papers and recommendations for external engagement with decision-makers.
Advocacy, Partnerships, Engagement, and Networking
Link and engage with the donor, county, and sub-county stakeholders to ensure timely consultation and technical support.
Collaborate with Maternal and Child Health networks and the MOH for technical direction and leveraging of resources to strengthen health systems.
Coordinate with other partners implementing MNCH interventions to build synergy, maximize impact, and ensure sustainability.
Attend and support stakeholder forums related to MNCH interventions.
Capacity Building
Participate in support supervisions and data review meetings at sub-county levels as scheduled in the work plan.
Support health-related trainings and ensure the technical quality of training delivery.
Key Requirements & Qualifications
Professional Experience
A minimum of 3 years of experience in Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH) programming.
Direct experience implementing MNCH interventions such as BEMONC, IMNCI, MPDSR, CNC, ENC, or PQOC.
Strong understanding of key MNCH programming concepts.
Experience working with devolved county and sub-county health systems.
Demonstrated experience engaging with donors and diverse external stakeholders.
Proven experience collaborating with the Ministry of Health and other partners at the county level.
Education, Certifications, and Registrations
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
Valid registration and licensing with the Nursing Council of Kenya.
