Safaricom is seeking a Project Manager on a Fixed Term Contract to oversee, guide, and manage the end-to-end implementation of various foundation and infrastructure initiatives. The candidate will be responsible for driving scope definition, cost management, project delivery, quality control, stakeholder engagement, and compliance across various project portfolios.
Responsibilities
Health and Safety
Uphold the company code of conduct, policies, and procedures, ensuring integrity and accountability in every aspect of work.

Project Implementation and Management
Scope and cost projects for submission to the Board for funding consideration.
Review the work and processes of project management consultants to ensure smooth delivery of high-quality projects.
Monitor implementation of all projects to ensure value for money and delivery of quality projects in all construction initiatives.
Lead project assessment visits with consultants to scope projects.
Review and interpret project design reports, Bills of Quantities, and Tender Evaluation reports submitted by project management consultants to ensure transparency, fairness, completeness, and compliance with set guidelines and policies.
Lead in procurement of Project Management Consultancy services in liaison with the Supply Chain Management Team.
Monitor and ensure professionals are engaged in managing the implementation of Foundation projects.
Explore innovation in project implementation to optimize resources without compromising project quality.
Guide project teams and committees in approval of projects and manage project teams in implementing initiatives such as Pamoja, regional projects, and Ndoto Zetu within set timelines.
Guide teams on costing of projects under various initiatives to ensure consistency in costing and scope.
Design a matrix for equitable allocation of projects to different project management consultants.
Ensure all Foundation projects are inspected and valid documentation for inspections is maintained.
Track timelines for projects and ensure valid contract documents, bonds, and insurances are in place.
Review contractors' valuations for all projects before sharing for processing by the Finance Team and explore automation of payment requests.
Monitor implementation of all projects to ensure adherence to timelines.
Manage an automated grant management system ensuring timely grant management, disbursements, monitoring, reporting, and commissioning.
Maintain a projects database tracking active and completed projects and prepare project reports.
Stakeholder Engagement
Serve as the main contact for Foundation projects.
Ensure adequate engagement of all project stakeholders before, during, and after project implementation.
Coordinate project review meetings with Project Management Consultants, implementers, and beneficiaries virtually and on-site.
Lead coordination of project visits by internal and external teams/stakeholders and liaise with the M&E Team.
Participate in and ensure site handover meetings for all construction projects are conducted.
ISO 26000, Audits, and Risk Management
Monitor and ensure adherence to ISO 26000 guidelines by project management consultants and support internal and external audits.
Make recommendations for amendments to ISO procedures based on changes within the Foundation or working methodologies.
Identify projects/contractors to recommend for internal audit based on reporting.
Support Foundation statutory audits and legal compliance audits.
Ensure compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements, including BORAQS and NCA construction laws.

Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
Professional certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP®) or PRINCE2.
Registered Professional Engineer (PE/CE) with a recognized professional body (EBK or equivalent).
Membership in relevant professional institutions (e.g., Institution of Engineers of Kenya).
Minimum 7 years of progressive work experience in M&E engineering and project management, including design, supervision, contract management, and delivery of large-scale construction projects.
Proficiency in engineering design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, Tekla Structures, STAAD.Pro, ETABS, SAP2000, Prokon, SAFE) is preferred.
Proficiency in project management tools (Primavera P6, MS Project, Asana, Trello) is preferred.
Strong knowledge of international and local construction codes (Eurocodes, BS, ACI, ASTM, Kenya Building Code).
Hands-on experience with data analytics and reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, or MS Excel) is preferred.
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Knowledge of sustainability practices and ISO standards in construction and project management.
