Africa Nazarene University (ANU) is an American private Christian University in Nairobi, Kenya, and an affiliate of The Church of the Nazarene Colleges and Universities around the world. The University is seeking to recruit qualified academic staff for various ranks including Professor, Associate Professor, Senior Lecturer, and Lecturer. These roles are critical in delivering high-quality education, advancing research, and contributing to the academic excellence of the institution.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Instructional Excellence: Deliver quality teaching, assessment, and feedback to students. Employ various teaching methods (field studies, group activities, assignments, laboratory sessions, off-class activities, etc.) to enhance student learning.
- Curriculum Development: Engage in curriculum review and program improvement; contribute to the development, planning, and implementation of a high-quality curriculum. Review and develop course outlines, lesson plans, and teaching aids.
- Academic Administration: Ensure timely upload of course materials to the Learning Management System (LMS). Attend meetings and perform other administrative duties as assigned.
- Assessment and Evaluation: Develop assessment plans; set, pre-moderate, administer, mark, and post-moderate exams, assignments, and other assessments. Ensure grades are entered accurately into the system.
- Supervision: Supervise undergraduate or graduate teaching, internships, and research work.
- Research and Scholarly Activity: Conduct research in a particular field and publish findings in professional refereed journals, books, or electronic media.
- Quality Assurance: Participate in evaluations, peer reviews, and self-assessments to maintain academic standards.
- Advising and Mentorship: Develop a schedule for student academic and career advising and communicate this schedule through the department.
- Professional Engagement: Attend conferences, workshops, and seminars; participate in industrial linkages and market outreach visits as required.
- Integrity and Ethics: Maintain academic integrity and ethical practice in all university dealings.
Qualifications and Experience by Rank
Professor
- At least three (3) years of teaching experience at the university level as an Associate Professor.
- Minimum of sixty (60) publication points as an Associate Professor, with at least forty (40) from refereed scholarly journals.
- National, Regional, and international recognition for research.
- Supervised at least five (5) postgraduate students to completion (including at least two doctoral students).
- Success in attracting research funds as an Associate Professor.
Associate Professor
- At least three (3) years of teaching experience as a Senior Lecturer OR six (6) years of senior research/industry experience.
- Minimum of forty-eight (48) publication points as a Senior Lecturer, with at least thirty-two (32) from refereed scholarly journals.
- National, Regional, and international recognition for research.
- Supervised at least four (4) postgraduate students to completion (including at least one doctoral student).
- Success in attracting research funds as a Senior Lecturer.
Senior Lecturer
- At least three (3) years of teaching experience as a Lecturer OR six (6) years of research/industry experience.
- Minimum of thirty-two (32) publication points as a Lecturer, with at least twenty-four (24) from refereed scholarly journals.
- National, Regional, and international recognition for research.
- Supervised at least three (3) postgraduate students to completion as a Lecturer.
- Success in attracting research funds as a Lecturer.
Lecturer
- At least three (3) years of teaching experience as a lecturer OR five (5) years research/industry experience.
- Track record of securing research funds.
- Minimum of twenty-four (24) publication points as a Lecturer, with at least sixteen (16) from refereed scholarly journals.
