The Production Operator – Assembly role involves the competent operation and maintenance of production machinery. You will be responsible for ensuring that machines are in good working condition, performing routine maintenance, and accounting for production output through accurate data recording. The role requires a strong focus on quality control, safety protocols, and efficient waste management to meet production targets.
Responsibilities
Competently perform machine operation functions and test machines before production begins.
Perform daily equipment autonomous maintenance activities: daily cleaning, checking, lubricating, and tightening to prevent deterioration.
Record the results of daily inspections in the provided machine check sheets.
Account for shift production by ensuring that all products are weighed and properly recorded (target: 45k or 75% of machine target during local/fine points production).
Timely/real-time updating of the Production Data Sheet (PDS) to ensure accurate capturing of all downtime, scrap, and production.
Monitor machines during production to ensure optimum running and measure deterioration through periodic inspections.
Load components into the machine hoppers as required.
Promptly report machine malfunctions to the process optimizer/technician and raise works order requests.
Strictly adhere to the laid-down safe working procedures and 'Safety First' principles.
Assist in performing color changeovers.
Ensure the allocated machine produces quality products by managing periodic checks on output.
Prevent mix-ups of components during production runs by using the correct components without fail.
Promptly liaise with the Process Optimizer/Q.C Inspector regarding off-spec components.
Minimize waste through 'right-first-time' practices and proper segregation.
Use all provided safety gears/PPEs and comply with all OHS/EHS rules and regulations.
Attend and participate in daily safety briefings and adhere to 5S housekeeping practices.
Conduct smooth and meaningful handovers to incoming machine operators at the workstation.
Update all relevant documents including PDS sheets and machine check sheets.
Requirements
Minimum KCSE D+ and a certificate in Engineering or a production-related field.
A Diploma in any production-related field is an added advantage.
At least 3 years of experience as a machine operator.
Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal health and safety regulations.
Strict adherence to company standards and safety procedures.
A deep understanding of business processes and principles.
High attention to detail and familiarity with industrial equipment.
Excellent physical condition and coordination.
