This role involves managing and developing the heavy equipment product portfolio specifically for the Kenyan market. The job holder is responsible for aligning product strategy, specifications, pricing, and lifecycle management with local customer needs and prevailing market conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute product strategies for construction and mining equipment, ensuring they are tailored to Kenyan operating conditions.
- Conduct thorough market and competitor analysis to identify existing trends, feature gaps, and potential market opportunities.
- Capture critical customer insights and support key engagements, which includes delivering technical presentations, organizing product demonstrations (demos), and providing comprehensive tender support.
- Train and enable internal sales teams and external dealers on product features, practical applications, and effective competitive positioning.
- Formulate robust pricing strategies, carefully considering cost structures, competition dynamics, local duties, and logistics.
- Partner closely with service, parts, and operations teams to guarantee product reliability, deliver aftersales excellence, and ensure continuous product improvement.
Key Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
- Proven experience in heavy equipment product management, application engineering, or technical sales support.
- Strong understanding of construction and earth-moving equipment applications, specifically within the context of the Kenyan construction, mining, and infrastructure sectors.
- Experience in field operations and customer-facing technical roles, demonstrating the ability to accurately translate complex technical features into tangible customer value.
- Solid grasp of product lifecycle management, technical specifications, compliance with tender requirements, and thorough awareness of competitor offerings.
- Excellent presentation, training, cross-functional collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills, coupled with flexibility to travel extensively across Kenya.
