Job Description
The National Syndemic Diseases Control Council (NSDCC) is a state Corporation whose mission is to provide a policy and strategic framework for mobilizing and coordinating resources for the prevention and control of syndemic diseases in Kenya.
Job Purpose
The Principal Programme Officer will coordinate the provision of policy and other strategic guidance, technical support, and capacity building for health promotion, prevention, control, and management of Syndemic diseases. The role involves spearheading the strengthening of primary health care systems in the country and initiating the development, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and review of program policies, strategies, and guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
Provide technical guidance to support the development and implementation of policies, guidelines, and legal frameworks to guide the process of procurement and quality assurance of strategic commodities at both levels of Government.
Support the coordination of pharmaceutical and laboratory monitoring of health commodities for syndemic diseases.
Support analysis of costing and expenditure of commodities for syndemic diseases and advise on sustainability and cost-effectiveness.
Provide technical support and guidance at all levels of government and administration to strengthen supply chain security.
Support collaboration with relevant stakeholders to facilitate the development and use of an integrated logistical management information system for strategic commodities across the country.
Support the mobilization and coordination of relevant stakeholders involved in strategic commodities for the syndemic diseases control programmes.
Support the design and development of appropriate mechanisms and tools for the monitoring and evaluation of strategic commodities.
Job Requirements
Academic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Health Economics, Epidemiology, Medicine, Social Sciences, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related disciplines from a recognized institution.
Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Economics, Epidemiology, Medicine, Social Sciences, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related disciplines from a recognized institution.
Professional Qualifications
Must be a member of a relevant professional body in good standing.
A supervisory course from a recognized institution.
Experience
At least six (6) years of relevant work experience.
At least three (3) years must have been in a supervisory role in the public service or the private sector.
