Principal Internal Auditor

The Principal Internal Auditor role at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) is a senior position responsible for overseeing and executing the Institute's internal audit functions. The successful candidate will ensure robust financial control and adherence to organizational policies and legal requirements, including leading special audit investigations and managing the overall audit workflow.

Job Specifications

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:

• Undertaking special audit investigations.
• Preparing comprehensive audit operational plans.
• Leading audit teams in the effective implementation of audit work plans.
• Implementing the audit fieldwork strategy.
• Carrying out risk assessment and developing corresponding management guidelines.
• Carrying out diligent audit follow-ups on the implementation status of recommendations.
• Preparing detailed audit reports for management and board use.
• Interpretation of financial control and management resolution of the Institute.

Person Specifications and Qualifications

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

• A Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Commerce (Accounting option), Commerce (Finance option), Business Administration (Accounting option), or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
• Part III of the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Examination or Part III of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
• At least 8 years’ relevant experience, with a minimum of 3 years spent in a supervisory role.
• Be a Certified Information System Auditor (C.I.S.A).
• Be Registered with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK).
• A Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
• Computer literacy.
• Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
• Ability to fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
