The Principal Internal Auditor at the Affordable Housing Board (AHB) is responsible for ensuring the integrity of the Board's financial and operational systems. The role involves the implementation of fraud investigation policies, risk assessment, and conducting thorough audit checks to maintain transparency and accountability in accordance with auditing standards.
Key Responsibilities
Implementing fraud investigation and anti-corruption policies, strategies, and guidelines in accordance with auditing standards.
Preparing the annual internal audit plan.
Conducting risk assessments, corruption risk assessments, and anti-corruption awareness activities within the Board.
Carrying out audit checks and identifying accounting errors.
Undertaking spot-checks and cash surveys.
Conducting audit investigations.
Following up on the implementation of recommendations from audit reports.
Performing audits on compliance with statutory provisions and internal regulations.
Implementing Quality Assurance and Improvement Programmes (QAIP).
Consolidating primary audit reports and queries related to the Board’s financial statements.
Maintaining a Risk Management Register and advising on mitigating measures for addressing risks in the division.
Developing and implementing business continuity plans and Business Process Re-engineering (BPR) in the division.
Facilitating stakeholder engagement and fostering a corporate culture that promotes ethical practices and good corporate citizenship.
Developing and implementing the division’s strategic plans, budgets, and performance contracts.
Requirements & Qualifications
A cumulative service period of nine (9) years’ work experience, with at least three (3) years at the grade of Senior Internal Auditor or a comparable position.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Economics, Business Administration, Business Management, Risk Management, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Certificate in any of the following: Part II of the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Part II of the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Examination, or Part II of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA).
Membership to the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) or a relevant professional body.
Completion of a Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
