This role, referenced as ADVERT REF. NO. WRTI/02/2026, is for a senior administrative professional responsible for ensuring the prompt, efficient, and cost-effective management of all general administrative operations and services. The primary goal is to drive the Institute’s capability and operational excellence in support of the Wildlife Research and Training Institute's mandate.
Job Purpose
The core purpose is to oversee prompt, efficient and cost-effective management of general administrative operations and services to drive the Institute’s capability and operational excellence in support of the mandate.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate the development, implementation, and review of administration policies, strategies, regulations, guidelines, standards, and procedures.
- Coordinate fleet management.
- Plan and coordinate office accommodation.
- Oversee repairs and maintenance schedules and logs for the Institute’s vehicles, office furniture, and office premises.
- Ensure renewal of general insurance covers for vehicles, buildings, and equipment.
- Coordinate the development and maintenance of a tools and equipment register.
- Ensure provision of office equipment, furniture, and facilities.
- Coordinate identification of obsolete assets and manage the disposal process.
- Manage telephone, registry, and security services.
- Coordinate outsourced services.
- Ensure the Authority’s adherence to employees’ safety, health, and welfare in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act, 2007.
- Coordinate the development and maintenance of security systems for the Institute.
- Coordinate and manage bills, land rates, and utilities.
- Safeguard the Institute’s assets including office premises, vehicles, office equipment, and furniture.
- Ensure the maintenance of up-to-date inventories of the institute’s establishment, equipment, and facilities.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have the following qualifications and experience:
- Experience: Cumulative service period of twelve (12) years’ work experience, three (3) of which must have been at the level of Principal Administration Officer II or in a comparable position.
- Education (Undergraduate): Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: Public Administration, Building and Estate Management, Business Administration, Transport and Logistics, or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution.
- Education (Postgraduate): Master’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: Public Administration, Development, Building and Estate Management, Business Administration, Transport and Logistics, or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution.
- Training: Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
- Professional Standing: Membership to a professional body in good standing where applicable.
- Skills: Proficiency in computer applications.
- Competence: Demonstrated a high degree of professional competence and administrative capability as reflected in work performance and results.
