The CARisSA STUDY is seeking a highly qualified Post Doctoral Researcher to be based in Kilifi. The successful candidate will lead the collection, processing, compilation, and analysis of study data and samples, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, develop proposals to secure research grants, and mentor team members to ensure the high quality and timely completion of projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Data & Sample Management: Lead the collection, processing, compilation, and analysis of study data/samples and ensure all related records and reports are handled and managed in line with study protocols.
- Collaboration & Networking: Network, collaborate, and partner with other Departments, research groups, and other internal and external CARisSA Study stakeholders, and support Project Management to ensure quality of outputs and timely completion of projects.
- Grant Writing: Work with the Principal Investigator and other Programme Researchers to identify sustainable funding opportunities and develop proposals to secure Research Grants and funding.
- Capacity Building: Contribute to capacity building by developing and maintaining user-friendly study-related learning aids and reference materials, as well as organizing and delivering short online refresher courses as necessary.
- Mentorship: Mentor the CARisSA Study research team by developing, implementing, and reviewing Scientific Research mentorship approaches for the assigned AROs, Postgraduate students, and interns.
- Research Dissemination: Disseminate and publish CARisSA Study research work by preparing policy briefs, manuscripts, publishing in reputable scientific journals, and disseminating findings at various internal and external meetings, conferences, workshops, and other relevant scientific forums.
- Team Management: Manage the CARisSA Study research team by providing direct supervision to assigned team members and participating in other study HR Management issues as assigned.
- Compliance & Governance: Contribute to the research team’s full compliance with all relevant internal ethical and Research Governance protocols, policies, and procedures, as well as all external legal, ethical, and regulatory requirements by ensuring proper documentation and adherence at all research phases.
Vacancy Requirements
- Minimum PhD in Epidemiology or a related field from a recognized university.
- Undergraduate degree in a health-related field (including Medicine and Surgery).
- If medically qualified, must be registered (or eligible to be registered) with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
- Minimum of one (1) year of academic and/or practical experience in research from a reputable research institution.
- Demonstrated strong experience in quantitative skills and proficiency in advanced statistical programming (e.g., Stata/R or other software).
- Experience in conducting field/clinical research.
- Experience working with external stakeholders as well as community health workers.
- Demonstrated high levels of integrity and confidentiality.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with diverse, multidisciplinary teams and build strong relationships with internal and external collaborators.
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to deliver quality outputs within strict timelines.
- Strong team management and decision-making skills.
