Role Overview
AGL (Africa Global Logistics) is seeking a Port Supervisor to oversee and coordinate MCT Port operation activities. The successful candidate will ensure all safety and operational procedures are met according to set objectives, manage operational staff, prioritize cargo movement, and maintain key stakeholder relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Operations Supervision: Supervise MCT Port operation activities, ensuring all safety and operational procedures align with set objectives.
- Documentation & Handover: Liaise with the documentation team, verify PUOs and invoices, and sign the handover book.
- Staff Management: Supervise port operational staff (including drivers and port clerks) and plan their shift-reporting schedules.
- Cargo Prioritization: Plan and prioritize the movement of specialized cargo, including Dangerous Goods (DG), Out of Gauge (OOG), and Reefers, from the port to avoid KPA storage costs.
- Reporting & Maintenance: Report all operations, incidents, and accidents to management in a timely manner. Report any truck, trailer, or pickup breakdowns to the workshop promptly.
- Inspections: Ensure truck, pickup, and van handover notes and daily inspection checklists are properly completed and signed by each driver per shift.
- Communication: Communicate all company policies to junior staff and attend toolbox meetings.
- Training: Monitor and follow up on training dates for staff regarding port operational activities.
- KPI Achievement: Ensure set port operations KPIs are met (e.g., achieving 4 trips per truck in a 24-hour cycle and transferring containers within 72 hours of discharge).
- Stakeholder Relations: Establish and maintain excellent relationships with KPA, KRA, and Shipping Agents.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure HQSE and legal compliance within the port operation team, ensuring the use of PPE and that all trucks meet legal requirements. Ensure abnormal cargo is well-lashed, inspected, and escorted from the port to the MCT terminal.
- Resource Management: Manage truck fuel control, maintaining the set fuel ratio of 15.5 liters per trip. Manage staff extra hours, ensuring compensatory off-duty time is provided promptly to avoid accumulated hours.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Diploma in Port Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience in port operations.
- Knowledge: Sound understanding of port and terminal operations, as well as handling procedures for Containerized, DG, OOG, and Reefer cargo.
