Plant Operator III (20 Posts)

Role Overview

This role, classified as Plant Operator III (CSG 16/ JG 'D'), is designated as the entry and training grade for Plant Operators within the State Department for Livestock Development. The Ministry is hiring twenty (20) individuals for this position on a one (1) year contract basis. Successful candidates will be responsible for the safe operation, minor maintenance, and cleanliness of designated plant machinery.

Salary and Benefits

• Salary Scale (CSG 16/ JG 'D'): Ksh. 20,030 up to Ksh. 24,500 per month (Ksh. 20,030 x 510 - 20,540 x 580 - 21,120 x 580 x 21,700 x 640 - 22,340 x 680- 23,020 x 700 - 23,720 x 780 - 24,500 p.m.).
• House Allowance: Kshs. 4,125 per month.
• Commuter Allowance: Kshs. 3,000 per month.
• Leave Allowance: Kshs. 6,500 (Once yearly).
• Leave Entitlement: 30 working days.
• Medical Cover: As provided by the government.
• Terms of Service: One (1) year contract.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities at this level will entail:

1. Operating machines of 'difficult rating' C.
2. Assisting machine attendants in identifying possible breakdowns.
3. Liaising with mechanics for necessary servicing.
4. Making daily and weekly oil checks on the plants.
5. Maintaining the overall cleanliness of the plants.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must meet the following requirements:

• Have a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean Grade 'D' Plain or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution.
• Have passed the Suitability Test for Plant Operator Grade III.
• Possess a valid driving license free from current endorsements for the class(es) of machine(s) that one may be required to operate.
• Be able to operate at least two (2) Plants of 'difficult rating' C.
• Attended a First-Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1) week from St. John Ambulance or the Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized Institution.
• Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
