Wärtsilä Eastern Africa Limited is seeking a skilled Plant Operator to be based in Athi River, Kenya. The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of the power plant during shifts according to company policies and procedures. The role involves maintaining power production at designated outputs, assisting in system start-ups and shut-downs, and ensuring the facility remains in a safe, clean condition.
Main Responsibilities
Operate and maintain the plant during the shift according to company policies and procedures.
Maintain plant power production at the output designated by management and operate within the acceptable loading envelope under utility dispatch directives.
Assist in start-up, shut-down, and normal operations of the power plant systems.
Complete and maintain all logs and running records in a clear and concise manner according to guidelines.
Take corrective action during system operational disturbances and/or notify the Shift Supervisor.
Communicate the condition of plant equipment and performance effectively to shift charge and fellow personnel.
Maintain the plant in a clean and safe condition at all times.
Perform emergency procedures to protect personnel and equipment in case of damage or safety failure.
Utilize all tools, equipment, and accessories in a manner that maximizes their operating life.
Assist in ensuring safe and efficient operation by reporting violations to the Shift Supervisor or duty manager.
Provide a complete handover to the relieving shift operator regarding disturbances, malfunctions, or abnormalities.
Perform planned and corrective maintenance as directed and account for all parts, materials, supplies, and fluids used.
Perform any other duties assigned by the superior.
Requirements
BSc or Degree in Engineering (B.Eng) or Technology (B.Tech) in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or equivalent.
1 year of relevant work experience.
Hands-on working experience with power plant engines.
