Job Description
Role Overview
This position involves treating water and operating equipment at the treatment facility. The primary purpose is to maintain inlet works, oxidation ditches, and clarifiers to ensure they function efficiently and meet established water quality standards.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Manage daily water production, treatment, and distribution to reservoirs and the customer network.
Monitor and ensure dosing pumps and operation rates are functional at all times.
Prepare and regulate chemical solutions in appropriate quantities as advised by laboratory staff.
Adjust plant operations to maintain quality standards based on water analysis results.
Maintain chlorine residuals, monitor chemical dosages, and collect water samples for testing.
Assess equipment performance and conduct routine plant checks for leaks or backups.
Record hourly readings of various plant parameters.
Conduct water treatment activities ensuring all units operate efficiently.
Perform regular cleaning of treatment units, including filter backwashing, sedimentation, and desludging.
Clean inlet works and mixing chambers.
Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the intake plants and surrounding environment.
Execute any other duties assigned by management.
Qualifications and Experience
KCSE Certificate.
Certificate in Water Engineering, Water Management, or Trade Test Grade from the Kenya Water Institute (KEWI) or any other recognized institution.
Minimum of two (2) years of working experience in the water sector.
Key Skills and Competencies
Strong communication skills.
Technical knowledge of operating water pumps.
In-depth understanding of the water production and treatment process.
