Job Description
The Mater Hospital was opened in 1962 by the Sisters of Mercy and has grown into a leading healthcare provider. We are seeking a qualified Physiotherapy and Rehabilitative Services Manager to provide clinical and administrative leadership to our rehabilitation department. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, managing departmental staff, and aligning clinical services with the hospital's strategic objectives.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Monitor standards of patients’ care to ensure delivery of quality patient care.
Provide leadership, supervision, and mentorship to Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, and other support staff.
Develop structures, systems, policies, and procedures to ensure effective functioning of the department.
Liaise with the Director of Medical Services to develop realistic budgetary estimates.
Ensure adherence to the approved budget through prudent spending and effective cost control measures.
Build and maintain a strong team of highly competent and motivated staff performing to set standards.
Ensure highest possible standards of quality and operational efficiency in departmental processes to realize high internal and external customer satisfaction.
Be accountable for the integrity, efficiency, and effectiveness of departmental processes, systems, and procedures.
Manage departmental performance, including the attainment of Strategic objectives and annual work plans.
Develop and implement systems and structures to ensure adequate and reliable supply of consumables.
Develop specifications and liaise with the procurement department for timely procurement of planned equipment.
Prepare statistical reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis for the medical records section.
Represent the institution in matters of physiotherapy practice and profession.
Oversee and monitor overall running of the physiotherapy department, including duty allocation.
Communicate the hospital’s strategic plan, objectives, policies, and procedures to staff.
Monitor and control stock movement within the department to ensure revenue capture and proper record keeping.
Represent departmental staff issues to management through the laid-down hierarchy.
Ensure adherence to set professional and ethical standards in the practice of Physiotherapy and related services.
Ensure hospital compliance with legal and regulatory requirements relating to physiotherapy.
Develop systems and structures to ensure staff development to expected standards.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the department and provide reports as required.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy.
Master’s Degree is desirable.
Minimum five years of experience as a team leader.
Registered & Licensed by the Physiotherapy Council of Kenya.
Demonstrated supervisory experience.
Keen attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
