M.P. Shah Hospital is looking for a Pharmaceutical Technologist to join its team of medical professionals. The role involves managing the pharmacy workflow, ensuring accurate dispensing of medications, and maintaining high standards of pharmaceutical care in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Prescription Management: Review and dispense prescriptions as per the treatment sheet of medications by compounding, packaging, and labelling pharmaceuticals to patients.
Inventory Control: Maintain pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed medications and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt; removing outdated drugs & preparing ageing reports.
Medication Preparation: Organize medications for dispensing by reading medication orders and prescriptions; preparing labels; calculating quantities; assembling intravenous solutions and other pharmaceutical therapies.
Reporting: Prepare reports by collecting and summarizing information and sending them on time as required in the standard operating procedure.
Revenue Management: Generates and captures revenue by calculating, recording, and issuing charges, as well as issuing cash sale receipts.
Quality Compliance: Check the expiry dates of medicines, making sure that the short expiry drugs are tagged and returned to the store in compliance with the set regulations.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
Overall pharmacy and discharge turnaround time.
Patient satisfaction score.
Number of incident reports by pharmacy.
Audit score on pharmacy charging and billing.
Audit score on medication quality (storage, labelling, etc.).
Availability and expiry value of pharmaceutical stocks.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Diploma in Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Technologist from a recognized institution.
Must hold a valid membership and a valid practicing license, registered with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board of Kenya.
Minimum of 3 years of working experience.
