Pharmaceutical Technologist

The Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is a State Corporation responsible for carrying out health research in Kenya. KEMRI is seeking a qualified and registered Pharmaceutical Technologist for a contract position in Kisumu. The successful candidate will be responsible for administering study-related forms, dispensing trial medications and study products, maintaining pharmacy logs, and supporting quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer respective Case Report Forms (CRFs).
• Carry out QA/QC of study CRFs and source documents, resolving any queries that may arise.
• Dispense drugs and study products to study participants.
• Ensure prescription drugs are readily available for dispensing.
• Maintain pharmacy temperature and humidity logs.
• Counsel participants on adherence to study products.
• Assist with the participant randomization process in liaison with the data and clinical teams.
• Maintain accurate and timely records of dispensed drugs and study products in pharmacy logs, accountability logs, and the database.
• Prepare and dispense prescribed medications and pharmaceutical preparations according to participant prescriptions.
• Establish and maintain good relationships with participants to foster study retention.
• Work closely with team members to ensure successful study execution.
• Update and maintain the laboratory specimen database, ensuring data quality assurance and integrity.
• Participate in quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) activities to uphold laboratory standards, serving as the QA/QC point person at the laboratory level.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Education: Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology (Mandatory).
• Registration: Registered with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (Mandatory).
• Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of working experience as a registered Pharmaceutical Technologist (Mandatory).
• Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of HIV prevention and treatment services (Mandatory).
