Role Overview
The Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is a State Corporation responsible for carrying out health research in Kenya. KEMRI is seeking a qualified and registered Pharmaceutical Technologist for a contract position in Kisumu. The successful candidate will be responsible for administering study-related forms, dispensing trial medications and study products, maintaining pharmacy logs, and supporting quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes.
Key Responsibilities
Administer respective Case Report Forms (CRFs).
Carry out QA/QC of study CRFs and source documents, resolving any queries that may arise.
Dispense drugs and study products to study participants.
Ensure prescription drugs are readily available for dispensing.
Maintain pharmacy temperature and humidity logs.
Counsel participants on adherence to study products.
Assist with the participant randomization process in liaison with the data and clinical teams.
Maintain accurate and timely records of dispensed drugs and study products in pharmacy logs, accountability logs, and the database.
Prepare and dispense prescribed medications and pharmaceutical preparations according to participant prescriptions.
Establish and maintain good relationships with participants to foster study retention.
Work closely with team members to ensure successful study execution.
Update and maintain the laboratory specimen database, ensuring data quality assurance and integrity.
Participate in quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) activities to uphold laboratory standards, serving as the QA/QC point person at the laboratory level.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology (Mandatory).
Registration: Registered with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (Mandatory).
Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of working experience as a registered Pharmaceutical Technologist (Mandatory).
Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of HIV prevention and treatment services (Mandatory).

Skills & Competencies: Good interpersonal skills, ability to work in a team, effective communication skills, and computer literacy.
