Job Description
The Perioperative Nurse is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures across the pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative stages. The role ensures patient safety, maintains sterile environments, and supports the surgical team during clinical procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-operative Care: Prepare patients for surgical procedures, ensuring all clinical and administrative protocols are met.
Intra-operative Support: Maintain a sterile surgical environment and assist surgeons actively during operations.
Post-operative Management: Monitor patient recovery as they emerge from anesthesia and manage immediate post-operative clinical needs.
Equipment Management: Ensure all surgical instruments and equipment are prepared and functional for procedures.
Requirements
Must be a Registered Nurse with a valid license from the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK).
Possession of a Higher Diploma in Perioperative Nursing is mandatory.
Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
