Part-Time Lecturers - Midwifery, Sexual & Reproductive Health, Pediatrics Nursing

Umma University is seeking part-time academic staff specialized in Midwifery, Sexual and Reproductive Health, or Pediatrics Nursing to deliver teaching, conduct research, mentor students, and engage in community outreach.

Job Responsibilities

Research and Scholarship

• Develop proposals for grants and perform research.
• Supervise student projects and research.
• Participate in seminars and workshops to disseminate research output.
• Present evidence-based studies in workshops, seminars, and conferences.

Community Outreach, Liaison, and Networking

• Organize community activities with students in line with university guidelines.
• Evaluate community activities with students.
• Support partnerships and work with the community in line with university policy.
• Participate in departmental meetings, conferences, and other events within and outside the university.
• Assist in securing placements for students.

Mentorship

• Mentor students and new colleagues in the department.
• Accompany students on mentorship trips.
• Guide and advise weak students.
• Provide pastoral care and support for students' individual needs.
• Act as a personal tutor, providing advice and referrals where necessary.

Student Teaching and Evaluation

• Teach and lecture students.
• Set, moderate, administer, and evaluate exams, providing feedback according to university guidelines.
• Ensure students complete coursework as per university guidelines.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Requirements

• Specialization in Midwifery, Sexual and Reproductive Health, or Pediatrics Nursing.
• Minimum of 3 publication points, of which at least two (2) are in refereed journal papers.
• Must have supervised at least three (3) undergraduate students to completion as a lecturer.
• Must qualify to register for a PhD in the relevant area of specialization.
• Possession of a relevant undergraduate degree (BA/BSc/HND).
