Job Description
Umma University is seeking part-time academic staff specialized in Midwifery, Sexual and Reproductive Health, or Pediatrics Nursing to deliver teaching, conduct research, mentor students, and engage in community outreach.
Job Responsibilities
Research and Scholarship
Develop proposals for grants and perform research.
Supervise student projects and research.
Participate in seminars and workshops to disseminate research output.
Present evidence-based studies in workshops, seminars, and conferences.
Community Outreach, Liaison, and Networking
Organize community activities with students in line with university guidelines.
Evaluate community activities with students.
Support partnerships and work with the community in line with university policy.
Participate in departmental meetings, conferences, and other events within and outside the university.
Assist in securing placements for students.
Mentorship
Mentor students and new colleagues in the department.
Accompany students on mentorship trips.
Guide and advise weak students.
Provide pastoral care and support for students' individual needs.
Act as a personal tutor, providing advice and referrals where necessary.
Student Teaching and Evaluation
Teach and lecture students.
Set, moderate, administer, and evaluate exams, providing feedback according to university guidelines.
Ensure students complete coursework as per university guidelines.
Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Requirements
Specialization in Midwifery, Sexual and Reproductive Health, or Pediatrics Nursing.
Minimum of 3 publication points, of which at least two (2) are in refereed journal papers.
Must have supervised at least three (3) undergraduate students to completion as a lecturer.
Must qualify to register for a PhD in the relevant area of specialization.
Possession of a relevant undergraduate degree (BA/BSc/HND).
