Job Description
As an Optometrist at the Machakos County Public Service Board, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive eye care services to patients. This role involves clinical assessments, diagnostic screenings, and the prescription of corrective visual aids to manage various eye conditions and improve patients' visual health.
Duties and Responsibilities
Comprehensive Eye Tests: Conduct thorough examinations to evaluate visual health and function.
Visual Acuity: Check and assess the clarity and sharpness of patients' vision.
Refractive Errors: Test for errors such as nearsightedness or farsightedness and prescribe appropriate eyeglasses and contact lenses.
Ocular Screening: Screen patients for conditions like Glaucoma, cataracts, and diabetic Retinopathy.
Foreign Body Removal: Safely and effectively remove foreign bodies from the eye when necessary.
Specialized Treatment: Provide treatment plans for conditions like Lazy eye (Amblyopia).
Patient Education: Educate patients on proper eye care and habits to prevent further deterioration of vision.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
A Diploma in Optometry from a recognized institution.
A Registration Certificate issued by the Medical Board of Kenya.
A valid practicing license from the Medical Board of Kenya.
