AMREF Flying Doctors is the leading provider of fixed-wing air ambulance services in Africa, operating from Wilson Airport in Nairobi for over 60 years. The main purpose of the Operations Intern position is to assist in the efficient coordination of flights, ensuring safety and compliance with aviation regulations during service delivery as guided by the Kenya Civil Aviation Regulations and Company Policy. This role includes flight planning, communication with aircraft commanders, monitoring flight operations, and providing administrative support to the Operations Department.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the flight operations team to coordinate and execute daily flight activities, aligning them with client expectations and aviation requirements.
Contribute to flight planning and dispatch processes under supervision, adhering to company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Ensure the timely completion and submission of flight plans for active flights.
Facilitate the clearance process by delivering manifests to immigration offices.
Maintain comprehensive records, including flight and event logs, aircrew flying records, and flight operations records for inbound and outbound flights.
Establish and manage air-to-ground and point-to-point radio communication with aircraft commanders.
Assist with data entry of all relevant flight information into the company database system and handle post-flight filing of flight operations documents.
Provide administrative assistance to the Operations Department, including tasks such as organizing and replenishing stationery supplies.
Attend to any additional work-related assignments delegated by the Operations Manager and Duty Officer.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Diploma in Flight Operations/Dispatch.
Technical Knowledge: Basic knowledge in radio communication.
Computer Skills: Proficiency in computer studies (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet).
Work Environment: Ability to work within a 24-hour work environment due to the nature of aeromedical operations.
