Role Overview
The Nutritionist at Outspan Hospital is responsible for implementing the nutrition care process for both inpatient and outpatient departments. The core purpose of the role is to deliver integrated nutrition therapy as part of an interdisciplinary clinical team to meet patients' health goals.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Nutrition Services: Deliver nutrition therapy integrated with the patients’ clinical goals as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Nutrition Counseling: Screen, assess and continuously evaluate patient nutrition needs and restrictions.
Diet Plan Formulation: Monitor and document nutritional status using established guidelines.
Nutrition Education: Educate patients and families on dietary principles, food selection, meal preparation, and recommendation modifications.
Compliance: Monitor food service operations for compliance with nutrition safety and quality standards.
Menu Development: Lead the development and standardization of recipes and menus tailored to the nutritional needs of the patients.
Training and Development: Mentor students and interns and provide in-service training to clinical staff.
Qualifications & Requirements
Diploma or degree in nutrition from a recognized institution.
Valid license from Kenya Nutritionists and Dieticians Institute (KNDI).
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service orientation.
Two years’ experience in a hospital setup.
Knowledge of quality management systems is an added advantage.
