Nursing Manager

Key Responsibilities

• Leadership: Lead and supervise nursing staff across various hospital departments.
• Compliance: Ensure compliance with nursing practice standards and patient care protocols.
• Workforce Management: Maintain optimal nurse-to-patient ratios across shifts and manage nursing workforce scheduling and staffing efficiency.
• Safety & Quality: Implement infection prevention and patient safety programmes.
• Development: Promote continuous professional development for nursing staff.
• Monitoring: Monitor nursing quality indicators and patient satisfaction levels.
• Culture: Foster a supportive and high-performance nursing culture.

Key Success Factors

• Care Standards: Deliver high standards of quality and safe nursing care across all hospital units.
• Efficiency: Maintain approved nurse-to-patient staffing ratios while minimizing excessive overtime and reliance on agency staff.
• Infection Control: Ensure infection prevention compliance, maintaining hand hygiene adherence of at least 95% and keeping infection rates within national benchmarks.
• Patient Satisfaction: Achieve patient satisfaction scores of at least 85% regarding nursing services.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate and complete patient documentation with at least 98% compliance.
• Safety Standards: Ensure medication administration accuracy of at least 99%.
• Staff Stability: Promote workforce stability by maintaining annual nursing staff turnover at or below 18%.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
• Registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya.
• Master’s degree in Nursing Administration or Healthcare Management is preferred.
• Minimum 8 years of nursing experience, with at least 3–5 years in leadership roles.
