Job Description
Role Overview
The Nursing Officer at Penda Health ensures the best quality of service and an excellent patient experience through standardized patient triaging, management of emergencies, and the provision of Maternal and Child Health/Family Planning (MCH/FP) services and other outpatient procedures. This role is a locum engagement on an as-needed basis, where successful candidates are contacted when opportunities arise.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Services: Deliver comprehensive and high-quality clinical services, including initial patient assessments, triaging, MCH/FP services, and nursing procedures. Administer IV or IM medications according to nursing best practices.
Facility Readiness: Maintain a medical center that is always prepared and well-stocked with supplies and equipment, ensuring clean and sterile items are ready for general and emergency cases.
IPC Leadership: Act as an Infection Prevention and Control Champion by implementing IPC best practices and adhering to Penda Health’s protocols.
Data Management: Record patient data accurately and comprehensively in the electronic medical record system in real-time.
Reporting: Fulfill Ministry of Health (MoH) reporting requirements with timely and accurate submissions.
Patient Education: Provide high-quality patient education to enhance the overall patient experience.
Professional Development: Engage in an evidence-based medical system and participate in continuous professional development to stay updated on medical advancements.
Operations & Improvement: Collaborate with the Nursing Officer In-Charge or Branch Manager to identify and implement process improvements for enhanced clinical operations.
Teamwork & Ethics: Support teammates and maintain high ethical and legal standards in healthcare delivery.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Diploma in Nursing (KRCHN).
Licensing: Must hold a valid practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK).
Certifications: Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory; ACLS is an added advantage.
Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in a busy healthcare facility.
Specialized Knowledge: Demonstrated experience in Maternal and Child Health (MCH) and Family Planning (FP).
Technical Skills: Strong ability to use electronic health records and digital health tools.
Soft Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with outstanding patient interaction abilities.
