The Network Operations Center (NOC) Engineer is responsible for ensuring the stability and performance of Gulf African Bank's network and server infrastructure. This role involves proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident management to maintain high uptime and availability. The role also supports security remediation efforts and collaborates with various IT units to support core services such as VoIP, DNS, and Network Access Control (NAC).
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Monitoring: Continuously monitor network, server, and infrastructure health using specialized monitoring and alerting tools.
Network Administration: Administer and provide technical support for network devices, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex issues across LAN, WAN, wireless, VoIP, and transmission networks.
Incident Management: Respond to incidents, raise and track tickets, and ensure all issues are resolved within established Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Root Cause Analysis: Perform thorough root cause analysis (RCA) for infrastructure issues and implement preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
Escalation Support: Act as a critical escalation point for network and infrastructure-related incidents.
Security Remediation: Review and execute remediation actions for SOC-identified security incidents, including firewall rule updates and endpoint isolation via NAC.
Vulnerability Support: Assist in remediating infrastructure vulnerabilities in coordination with system and application owners.
Core Services Support: Support domain services such as DNS, DHCP, authentication systems, and Network Access Control (NAC).
VoIP Support: Assist in the support of IP telephony and troubleshoot call quality issues.
Maintenance & Changes: Execute approved changes, upgrades, and maintenance activities, including after-hours work when required.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including network diagrams, runbooks, and knowledge base articles.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Certifications: Minimum CCNA certification (or equivalent) is required. Additional certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, or ITIL are an advantage.
Experience: 3–5 years of experience in a NOC, network operations, or network support environment.
Technical Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, and VPNs.
Hands-on experience with routers, switches, and firewalls.
Familiarity with Network Access Control (NAC) solutions.
Working knowledge of VoIP technologies (SIP, IP telephony).
Understanding of Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP.
Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, Wireshark).
Basic understanding of cybersecurity and incident response processes.
Ability to work in a 24/7 shift environment (day/night/weekends).
Working Conditions
Shift-based role.
On-call support may be required.
