Job Description
The Network & Infrastructure Officer role at United Bank for Africa (UBA) Kenya is responsible for providing technical support to staff, ensuring user queries are resolved promptly, and managing the bank's network infrastructure. This includes implementing, deploying, and optimizing both Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN) using internal resources and third-party suppliers.
Responsibilities
Ensure strict compliance with standards, controls, and regulations in all operational and service delivery activities.
Create and maintain detailed schematics, architectural, and topological diagrams of the entire network (WAN & LAN).
Adhere to Change Management procedures for all design changes.
Develop and administer capacity-planning and tracking to ensure responsiveness to workload increases or configuration imbalances.
Handle requests, enquiries, and complaints efficiently, providing regular progress updates until resolution.
Periodically test the Disaster Recovery (DR) plan to ensure its effectiveness.
Ensure high availability of the bank's systems and provide first-level support for Finacle issues.
Perform system End of Day (EOD) activities and monitor system services.
Generate and distribute daily and monthly systems reports to relevant departments.
Execute systems backups and restorations.
Manage the bank's voice communication systems and voice recorders.
Maintain call logs for user queries and provide general application and hardware troubleshooting.
Manage I.T. department documentation and files.
Provide online technical support to users.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Maintain 99.9% availability of the banking application.
Timely provision of routine internal and external reports.
High levels of internal and external customer satisfaction according to SLAs.
Increased uptime and efficiency of all IT systems.
Effective disaster recovery readiness and failover processes.
Strict compliance with IT policies and physical data center controls.
Requirements
A Bachelor's degree in ICT or a related field.
Comprehensive knowledge of ICT hardware, software, and networking (LAN/WAN).
Mandatory Professional Certifications: CCNA, MCSE, CCNP, and CCNA Security (CCNSECURITY).
At least two years' experience in a similar position.
Experience working in a leading bank is considered an added advantage.
