Job Description
The Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) wishes to recruit a dynamic, qualified, and result-oriented person to fill the position of Motor Vehicle Driver I Cum Mechanic. Reporting to the Head of Transport & Maintenance, the role involves dual responsibilities of safely operating university vehicles and performing mechanical maintenance and repairs to ensure the fleet's reliability.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Mechanical Maintenance: Carry out routine servicing, oiling, greasing, and replacement of worn-out parts.
Vehicle Checks: Conduct pre-operational checks to ensure all vehicles are roadworthy.
Fault Diagnosis: Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and recommend necessary repairs.
Safe Operation: Drive university vehicles safely, maintaining their cleanliness and adhering to all traffic laws and university transport policies.
Documentation: Keep accurate records of repairs, spare parts used, and maintenance schedules.
Asset Management: Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition and ensure vehicle security on and off campus.
Reporting: Promptly report vehicle defects and track the expiry of insurance licenses.
Staff and Student Transport: Provide transportation services for university staff and students as required.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education: Minimum grade of D+ in KCSE.
Licensing: Valid Driving Licence Class ABCE and a valid Public Service Vehicle (PSV) License.
Certifications: Mechanics Grade I certification and a current Certificate of Good Conduct.
Experience: At least five (5) years of experience as a professional driver.
Technical Literacy: Proficient in basic computer use.
Soft Skills: Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team leadership skills.
Personal Attributes: A person of integrity, morally upright, mature, and a creative, innovative team player.
Work Ethic: Ability to work under minimum supervision and adapt to a multicultural environment.
