Samburu County Assembly is seeking to recruit a qualified individual to the position of Member of the Audit Committee. The Audit Committee plays a critical role in providing oversight of the Assembly's financial reporting, internal controls, and audit processes. The successful candidate will be appointed for a three-year term, renewable once.
Responsibilities
Review and report to the Board and the Accounting Officer on financial issues and judgments related to the Assembly's financial statements.
Assess the clarity and completeness of financial statements and disclosures in line with applicable rules and regulations.
Monitor the effectiveness of the Assembly’s performance management and performance information systems.
Provide robust oversight of the Assembly’s internal audit function.
Facilitate effective communication and liaison between management and external auditors.
Ensure the overall effectiveness of both internal and external audit processes.
Qualifications and Requirements
Must hold a degree from a recognized University in Kenya in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, Economics, Risk Management, ICT, or other related fields.
Must be a Kenyan Citizen.
Possess a distinguished career with at least 5 years of post-qualification professional experience in the specified fields.
Have a good understanding of County Assembly operations, Financial Management, and reporting/auditing.
Understand the objects, principles, and functions of the County Assembly.
Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.
Membership in professional bodies such as ICPAK, ICPSK, ACFE, or IIA is an added advantage.
Additional Terms
Members shall serve on a part-time basis for a three-year period, renewable for one further term only.
Allowances are determined by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).
The Chairperson must be independent of the County government entities.
Applicants must not be current or past employees of the entity, nor have been an agent/employee of any business organization that has traded with the County Assembly in the last two years.
