Medical Specialists I - Psychiatrist

Narok County Government, established under the County Governments Act of 2012, is seeking a Medical Specialist I (Psychiatrist). This role involves providing specialized psychiatric clinical care, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation within the county's healthcare facilities. The successful candidate will play a critical role in mental health service delivery, forensic services, and health program implementation.\n\n### Duties and Responsibilities\n- Undertaking general diagnosis, care, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients.\n- Carrying out specialized clinical care and providing psycho-social interventions.\n- Providing clinical services to patients and training/consulting in various health facilities.\n- Carrying out forensic and medicolegal services.\n- Coordinating disease surveillance, prevention, and control.\n- Coordinating health education and promotion.\n- Implementing health projects and programmes.\n- Maintaining up-to-date health information systems.\n- Monitoring the provision of health treatment and care.\n- Undertaking health research and analyzing medical reports.\n\n### Requirements for Appointment\n- Must have served in the grade of Assistant Director, Medical Services/Medical Specialist II in the public or private sector (or its equivalent) for a minimum of three (3) years.\n- A Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.Ch. B) degree from an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.\n- A Master of Medicine degree in Psychiatry from an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.\n- A Certificate of Registration by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.\n- A valid practicing license from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.\n- A Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme (lasting not less than 6 weeks) from a recognized institution is an added advantage.\n- A Certificate in computer application skills is an added advantage.\n\n### How to Apply\nInterested and qualified persons are requested to make their applications in writing by completing one (1) Application for Employment Form serial number NRK-CPSB (3) (REVISED 2025).
