Narok County Government is seeking to recruit qualified and competent individuals to fill the position of Medical Specialist I (General Surgeon). The Medical Specialists I is responsible for undertaking advanced medical diagnosis, care, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients within Narok County health facilities. This role involves performing specialized surgeries, providing psycho-social interventions, and offering forensic and medicolegal services. The specialist will also be involved in training, health education, and the implementation of health projects and programs to improve community health outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities
Undertake general diagnosis, care, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients.
Carry out specialized clinical care and perform surgeries in various health facilities.
Provide psycho-social interventions and clinical services to patients.
Training, consulting and performing surgeries in various health facilities.
Conduct forensic and medicolegal services.
Coordinate disease surveillance, prevention, and control measures.
Coordinate health education and promotion activities.
Implement and monitor health projects and programmes.
Maintain up-to-date health information systems and analyze medical reports.
Undertake health research and provide consulting services.
Monitoring provision of health treatment and care.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:
Served in the grade of Assistant Director, Medical Services/Medical Specialist II in the public or private sector or its equivalent for a minimum period of three (3) years.
A Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.Ch. B) degree from an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
A Master of Medicine degree in General Surgery (Note: qualifications in Anaesthesiology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Psychiatry, and Radiology are also recognized for this grade, but this specific post is for a General Surgeon) from an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
A Certificate of Registration by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
A valid practicing license from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
A Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution or its equivalent is an added advantage.
A Certificate in computer application skills will be an added advantage.
