Job Description
Role Overview
The Narok County Public Service Board is seeking to recruit two (2) Medical Specialists I specializing in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The role involves undertaking general diagnosis, care, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients, with a specific focus on specialized clinical care and surgeries within health facilities across Narok County. The successful candidates will be expected to manage complex cases, coordinate disease surveillance, and lead health promotion initiatives.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Clinical Care: Undertake general diagnosis, care, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients; carrying out specialized clinical care and providing clinical services to patients.
Surgical Procedures: Perform specialized surgeries in various health facilities as required within the specialty of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Public Health Management: Coordinate disease surveillance, prevention, and control; lead health education and promotion activities; and implement health projects and programmes.
Health Information & Research: Maintain up-to-date health information systems, monitor the provision of health treatment and care, undertake health research, and analyze medical reports.
Professional Services: Carry out forensic and medicolegal services and provide psychosocial interventions.
Consultation and Training: Provide professional training and consulting services to other healthcare workers.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:
Served in the grade of Assistant Director, Medical Services/Medical Specialist II in the public or private sector (or its equivalent) for a minimum period of three (3) years.
A Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.Ch. B) degree from an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
A Master of Medicine degree in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from an institution recognized by the KMPDC (Note: General requirements for the grade include degrees in Anaesthesiology, General Surgery, Psychiatry, and Radiology).
A Certificate of Registration by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
A valid practicing license from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
A Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme (lasting not less than 6 weeks) from a recognized institution is an added advantage.
Proficiency in computer application skills will be an added advantage.
