The Mechanical Technician Intern at Kenya Electricity Generating Company PLC (KenGen) will be responsible for supporting the maintenance and operational integrity of mechanical systems. This role involves performing technical tasks under supervision to ensure plant efficiency and safety across various business areas.
Responsibilities and Duties
Maintenance: Carrying out scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance on mechanical equipment to minimize downtime.
Calibration: Performing calibration of all mechanical monitoring equipment to ensure accuracy in plant operations.
Installation & Commissioning: Installing, testing, and commissioning new or refurbished plant equipment and systems.
Inspections: Carrying out regular safety inspections and reporting any hazards or equipment failures.
Technical Interpretation: Interpreting technical drawings and manuals as required for work assignments.
Diagnostics: Carrying out diagnostics and troubleshooting of faults in the plant and its auxiliaries.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: A Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Certification: Must possess a final certificate from the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC).
Flexibility: Must be prepared and willing to serve in any of the company's business areas across Kenya.
