Wärtsilä Eastern Africa Ltd is a member of the worldwide Wärtsilä group.\n\n### Role Overview\nThe Mechanical Technician is responsible for mechanical maintenance of all plant equipment within planned time frames, ensuring high standards of quality and safety. The role involves inspecting machinery, implementing maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting mechanical faults to ensure optimal plant performance.\n\n### Key Responsibilities\n- Responsible for mechanical maintenance of all plant equipment within planned time frames.\n- Expertise in using tools, portable machine tools, and workshop tools like grinders, drilling machines, welding equipment, etc.\n- Ensure all plant equipment is healthy by providing quality maintenance.\n- Inspect completed work to ensure that maintenance of machinery/equipment is completed correctly and conforms to specifications and safety standards.\n- Implement maintenance procedures and working routines.\n- Ensure resources are used effectively and that work schedules and targets are met.\n- Monitor the condition of maintenance equipment, materials, parts, and tools; ensure they are maintained according to applicable guidelines and policies, taking corrective actions when needed.\n- Assist supervisors in problem-solving and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for all plant equipment.\n- Rectify mechanical faults under the guidance of the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor.\n- Assist the supervisor in preparing Maintenance Reports, incident reporting, analysis, investigations, and action plan implementation.\n- Assist in spares, consumables, and tools procurement planning.\n- Suggest and implement improvements to plant operations.\n- Ensure plant performance targets and customer contractual obligations are achieved consistently within the area of responsibility.\n- Ensure that work is executed according to Wärtsilä and customer Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) guidelines.\n- Responsible for effective implementation of permit to work, lockout & tag out (LOTO) systems to protect personnel and equipment.\n- Conduct audit compliance and action plan implementation.\n- Maintain competency in emergency preparedness and take appropriate actions when needed.\n- Responsible for good housekeeping and cleanliness of all plant equipment.\n- Maintain good teamwork and interpersonal relationships within and with other department personnel.\n- Responsible for maintaining the machines and auxiliary equipment in good working order.\n\n### Requirements and Qualifications\n- A Bachelor's degree (BA/BSc) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in a relevant engineering field.\n- Experience working as a technician or intern in a thermal power plant environment.\n\n### How to Apply\nInterested and qualified candidates should apply online via the Wärtsilä careers portal at .
