As a Mechanical Technician, you will protect product quality, reduce waste, and minimize environmental impacts. You will act as a positive contributor to the factory’s work environment and culture, serving as a leading coach and mentor to the Technical Operators in the areas of mechanical engineering and Unilever Manufacturing System (UMS) techniques.
Main Responsibilities
Mechanical Support: Apply technical skills and expertise to ensure the provision of effective engineering support within the team, focused on delivering performance targets. Directly contribute to improved safety, quality, sustainability, and cost.
Preventative Maintenance: Implement planned and preventive maintenance with rigor and skill, delivering on time and in full. Specialist in Condition-Based Monitoring.
Mechanical Diagnostics: Read and interpret mechanical drawings and manuals, understand basic and complex mechanical equipment, diagnose issues, and execute maintenance safely.
Safety Compliance: Ensure all machines adhere to Unilever Machinery Safety standards through proper maintenance and continuous improvement.
Utility Isolation: Safely isolate machinery from all utilities (such as compressed air, electricity, steam, product lines, etc.) and operate with competence on LOTOTO procedures.
Workplace Safety & Environment: Utilize appropriate safety and environmental procedures for people, processes, materials, products, and equipment to ensure a safe working environment. Minimize waste and manage hazardous materials correctly to reduce environmental impact.
Quality Control: Ensure that all aspects of Quality within the area of responsibility conform to local Quality procedures to protect and promote the brand and product.
Team Leadership: Promote the development of a highly effective team through strong communication and leading by example while focusing on goals and targets.
Continuous Improvement (UMS): Use performance measures to identify and prioritize losses in the production area. Apply rigorous Cost Deployment and the Zero-loss concept to eliminate losses using UMS principles.
Problem Solving & Decision Making: Identify, prioritize, and address problems using appropriate tools and techniques that eliminate recurrence. Make and implement technical decisions which can impact weekly plans.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: BA/BSc/HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
Experience:
Experience working as part of an extended team within the manufacturing sector.
Proven record of advanced maintenance experience.
Experience in FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) manufacturing.
Experience as a team member within a project/maintenance team.
