The Mechanical Technician is responsible for the efficient operation and maintenance of power plant systems. This role involves managing the startup and shutdown processes, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring that all machinery operates with minimal downtime. The technician must prioritize health and safety, adhering to all OSHA regulations and emergency procedures to protect personnel and equipment.
Key Deliverables
Assist in start-up, shut-down, and normal operations of the power plant systems.
Complete and maintain all logs and running records in a clear and concise manner according to guidelines.
Responsible for taking corrective action during system operational disturbances and/or bringing such disturbances to the attention of the Operations and Maintenance Supervisor.
Effectively communicate the condition of the plant equipment and performance to shift charge and fellow plant personnel.
Responsible for maintaining the plant in a clean and safe condition at all times.
Perform emergency procedures in order to protect personnel and equipment in case of damage or failure of safety deficiencies.
Diagnosing faults and ensuring timely repairs of factory machines and equipment with minimal or no downtime.
Support planning of new projects and installations.
Utilize all tools, equipment, and accessories in such a manner so as to maximize useful operating life.
Perform planned and corrective maintenance, emergency and preventive as directed and as needed.
Account for all parts and materials, supplies, and fluids used in the performance of maintenance work.
Develop and maintain tools, test fixtures, and documentation.
Health and Safety
Responsible for the safe and economic operation and maintenance of the plant during the designated shift.
100% adherence with OSHA requirements to ensure safety.
Comply with all safety regulations including isolation, lock out, and tag out.
Essential Qualities and Qualifications
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
At least 2 years’ experience in operation and/or maintenance of a power plant.
OSHA certification.
Lube oil training certification.
Firefighting and first aid certification.
Fire marshal certification.
