Tenwek Hospital is a Christian community committed to excellence in compassionate healthcare, spiritual ministry, and training for service to the glory of God. The Mechanical Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring the effective operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of all mechanical systems within the hospital.
Key Responsibilities
Design, installation, operation, and maintenance of mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, wastewater, and water treatment systems.
System Oversight:
Inspections: Conduct regular assessments of mechanical systems to identify issues and recommend corrective actions.
Maintenance Planning: Develop and implement preventive maintenance plans to minimize equipment downtime.
Troubleshooting: Collaborate with vendors to resolve malfunctions in various mechanical equipment.
Integration: Coordinate with other technical departments for seamless operation of systems with hospital functions.
Sustainability: Assist in energy conservation initiatives to reduce operational costs.
Training: Provide continuous training to staff on the safe operation of mechanical systems.
Decision Making: Review and interpret data to inform analytical and operational decisions.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Professional Registration: Must be registered as a graduate engineer with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) and/or the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK).
Certification: Professional certification or licensure as a Mechanical Engineer.
Experience: At least 3+ years of proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer, preferably in a hospital setting or high-pressure environment.
Functional Skills and Attributes
Experience with Air Handling Units, Air Conditioners, Medical Gas Supply Systems, and Water Treatment Systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical drawings.
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work under minimal supervision.
