Job Description
Under the general guidance and direction of the MEAL Assistant and close working with MEARL Coordinator, the MEARL Intern will work as part of the Nandi Carbon project team supporting the MEARL assistant in program quality assurance, monitoring, reporting, and verification of data reported from tree nurseries, planted seedlings, and survival monitoring. S/he will also support accountability sessions, documentation, and learning, and participate in the day-to-day implementation of the M&E system including data collection, entry, analysis, and data use for decision-making.
Work with the MEAL Assistant and program team in project data management, including collecting, organizing, and verifying data accuracy (QA/QC) before database capture.
Work with the MEAL Assistant and program team to troubleshoot and maintain the CommCare MRV system.
Support data reporting, entry, and trend summaries in CommCare and other tools.
Maintain and share updated database of program data regularly.
Participate in community feedback sessions, beneficiary Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), and semi-structured interviews.
Collect and document human interest stories and case studies as benchmarks for best practices.
Conduct data quality audits, spot checks, and on-job training on data keeping for supported health facilities and community units.
Support beneficiary accountability across programs in line with the Accountability Framework.
Test and adopt relevant technologies to improve MEAL efficiency.
Support planning and organizing for surveys, evaluations, operational research, and supervising data collection.
Perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience
An undergraduate degree in Statistics, Demography, Population Studies, Development Studies, or a related field from a recognized university.
Ability to conduct comprehensive literature reviews and secondary data reviews.
Excellent organizing, facilitating, presentation, and communication skills.
Ability to elicit information from stakeholders and adapt it into concise materials.
Excellent written and spoken English.
Ability and willingness to work on own initiative and respond to challenges.
Ability to work with multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams.
Willingness to sign and abide by the Save the Children Child Safeguarding Policy.
