Job Description
The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) is an autonomous body established in 1991 through an Act of Parliament, charged with the responsibility of providing and managing a coordinated system of airports in Kenya. The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) serves as the Accounting Officer and is responsible to the Board for the day-to-day management and coordination of activities within the Authority. This includes defining and executing strategy, generating revenue, engaging customers and stakeholders, managing risk, ensuring compliance, driving performance, and growing talent.
Employment Terms
Contract Duration: Three (3) years, renewable once subject to satisfactory performance or attainment of mandatory retirement age, whichever occurs earlier.
Reporting To: Chairperson, Board of Directors
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Providing overall strategic leadership of the Authority in line with market and industry changes and, through the senior management team, delivering strategic intent and overseeing day-to-day operations.
Stakeholder Engagement: Engaging with key stakeholders in the development and delivery of strategic customer, government, and sector-wide aviation initiatives.
Governance Support: Presenting strategy, long-term capital investment plans, annual budgets, and procurement plans to the Board for approval; providing accurate and timely information on operations and financial status.
Asset Management: Driving maximum utilization and productivity from all Authority assets, ensuring a positive return on capital investment, and enhancing the balance between aeronautical and non-aeronautical revenues.
Risk & Control: Ensuring adequate systems and processes for accountability, risk management, and internal control.
Legal Compliance: Ensuring all policies and operations adhere to legal, statutory, and regulatory guidelines, safeguarding the Authority's interests.
Quality Improvement: Ensuring continuous improvement in the quality and value of services and products provided.
Performance Culture: Establishing a high-performance culture driven by talented staff who deliver outstanding results.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
A Bachelor’s degree in Aviation, Finance, Economics, Business Management, Marketing, Statistics, Engineering, Social Sciences, or a related field from a University recognized in Kenya.
At least ten (10) years of working experience in a relevant field.
At least five (5) years served in a Senior Management position.
Must meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya (Integrity).

Experience in Organizational Design and Implementation.
Hands-on experience in public sector policy formulation.
