The Manager, Project Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) - Landscapes & Communities (L&C), based in Africa, serves as a subject matter expert in M&E, project design, management, reporting, and data analysis. Working closely with regional and global teams, the manager ensures that all L&C project managers and partners in Africa and Asia-Pacific align project designs with the Rainforest Alliance Impact Framework and utilize the Project Management Platform (PMP) for standardized, evidence-based performance monitoring and impact reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Alignment & Standardization: Align the L&C project portfolio in Africa and Asia with the global Impact Framework. Ensure M&E processes are standardized by embedding relevant indicators.
- Data Management: Ensure standardized storage and reporting of project data to allow for aggregation and impact reporting at both project and country levels.
- Capacity Building: Act as the primary point of contact for coaching and mentoring project staff and partners on M&E frameworks, tools, and processes.
- Platform Adoption: Drive the adoption and maintenance of the Project Management Platform (PMP) among project managers and partners in Africa and Asia-Pacific.
- Tool Design: Lead teams in designing improved approaches and tools, including GIS-based systems, to resolve data management issues and enhance results-based management.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Present technically complex M&E frameworks and insights to internal and external stakeholders.
- Project Development Support: Assist local and regional teams in preparing project initiatives, ensuring robust Theories of Change, Logframes, and adequate M&E budgets.
- Strategic Support: Contribute to the organization's 2030 Strategy by driving impact along established organizational pathways.
- Collaboration: Foster a culture of proactive collaboration and continuous learning across the organization.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Education: Master’s degree in agriculture, forestry, or a related field.
- Experience:
- At least 7+ years of progressive experience in designing and implementing M&E systems, primarily in tropical agriculture or forestry.
- Minimum of 6 years in a management capacity regarding M&E data collection methodologies.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in M&E data quality assurance and analysis.
- Communication: Demonstrated ability to communicate complex impacts visually and concisely.
- Teamwork: Proven track record in facilitating complex data gathering across diverse, multi-cultural teams.
- Language: High-quality spoken and written English proficiency.
- Technical Skills: Experience using GIS software and digital data collection tools is highly desirable.
