About the Role
The Manager, Home Allocation will be responsible for overseeing the credit assessment and housing unit distribution processes within the Affordable Housing Board (AHB). This senior position involves managing the entire credit application lifecycle, evaluating the creditworthiness of applicants, and ensuring that all allocations comply with the board's financial and legal standards. The role is essential for maintaining the financial health of the board's housing portfolio and ensuring that the constitutional right to adequate housing is fulfilled through a sustainable and risk-aware approach.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the review and analysis of credit applications to assess the creditworthiness of potential home applicants.
Ensure the maintenance of accurate and comprehensive records for all credit applications, approvals, and related transactions.
Coordinate with legal, finance, and other internal departments to ensure seamless processing of housing allocations and compliance with necessary documentation.
Support the decision-making process for credit approvals, rejections, or conditional approvals based on detailed risk assessments.
Monitor the performance of the credit portfolio, tracking metrics such as approval rates, delinquency rates, and default rates.
Identify potential risks in the credit application process and develop strategic measures to mitigate them.
Report significant financial risks and portfolio performance to senior management and propose corrective actions.
Coordinate with internal and external auditors to facilitate credit audits and ensure full regulatory compliance.
Ensure all credit and allocation operations adhere to internal policies, industry standards, and government regulations.
Promote the adoption of new technologies and best practices to enhance the efficiency of credit operations and home allocation.
Requirements and Qualifications
A minimum of fifteen (15) years of relevant work experience, with at least three (3) years served as an Assistant Manager in Credit Management or a comparable position.
Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Finance, Economics, Commerce, Business Administration, Real Estate, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Commerce, Real Estate, or a related field.
Membership in a relevant professional body in good standing.
Completion of a leadership course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
Possession of a valid Practicing Certificate where applicable.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Fulfillment of the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya regarding leadership and integrity.
