Role Overview
The Manager Financial Crime at HF Group is responsible for developing and implementing a proactive Fraud Risk Management Program. This role involves leading a team to monitor customer transactions, actioning fraud alerts within card management systems, and conducting detailed investigations into suspected fraudulent activities to safeguard the institution's assets and reputation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a proactive Fraud Risk Management Program using data extraction, data analytics, and management reporting.
- Lead a team in reviewing various customer transactions and activities to identify suspicious activity.
- Action all card fraud alerts in the Powercard management system, including cautioning cards on stop lists and updating travel advisories.
- Undertake investigations of debit and credit card disputes and handle chargeback fraud.
- Review current card fraud rules to ensure effectiveness in line with the risk management framework and create new rules as per transaction monitoring standards.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of fraud risk processes, tools, policies, standards, and procedures.
- Manage and mentor a team of fraud analysts, overseeing daily exception reports and instituting prompt control measures.
- Perform and oversee investigations into suspected fraud, providing resolutions to operational and business units.
- Risk assess the effectiveness of anti-fraud programs and controls.
- Analyze internal and external fraud loss data to monitor risk management activities associated with significant losses.
- Maintain awareness of process, system, or governance changes and their impact on fraud risk.
- Research fraud patterns to develop rules for prevention and detection.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly management reports on averted losses, sustained losses, and recovered monies.
- Participate in Kenya Bankers Association forums and network with law enforcement and telecom sectors.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting, Economics, Actuarial Science, Criminology, Computer Science, or a relevant field.
- Professional qualifications in Risk Management and Compliance.
- Minimum 6 years of Banking work experience, with at least 2 years in a fraud risk management related role.
- Proven experience in managing and leading a team.
- Hands-on experience conducting complex fraud investigations, including forensic accounting, interviewing, and evidence collection.
- Experience in card fraud monitoring and the Visa Risk Manager system.
- Deep knowledge of credit card fraud rules and chargebacks.

- Expertise in evaluating risks in real estate investments and operations.
