Bwasco Water & Sewerage PLC is a public water and sanitation service provider in Bungoma County. Operating under a service provision agreement with the Lake Victoria North Water Works Development Agency (LVNWWDA), Bwasco delivers both potable water and wastewater services in line with national and county regulations.
The Manager, Finance and Accounting, will oversee the organization's financial health, ensuring fiscal integrity, regulatory compliance, and strategic financial planning. The successful candidate will manage the smooth functioning of accounts, payroll, and banking while implementing financial procedures and controls to enhance institutional efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting: Develop templates and compile section monthly reports; ensure accuracy and consistency of financial statements, including balance sheet reconciliations.
Operational Oversight: Manage daily financial operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll processing, and banking transactions.
Cash Flow Management: Monitor the company's cash flow to maintain liquidity and solvency, ensuring timely payment of all obligations.
Compliance: Enforce adherence to generally accepted accounting standards (IAS and IFRS) and implement the Finance and Accounting Manuals. Ensure timely statutory payments and levies.
Audit Coordination: Liaise with internal and external auditors to ensure timely auditing is carried out on the organization.
Strategic Analysis: Analyze factors influencing business performance and perform financial planning to forecast future performance and mitigate risks.
Risk Management: Assess and manage financial risks to ensure business resilience against economic challenges.
Leadership: Supervise finance department employees, provide guidance, and administer staff appraisal tools.
Efficiency: Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives and improve financial procedures and controls.
Internal Controls: Develop measures for controlling the issuance of credit notes and ensure quarterly stock taking and periodic cash counts.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Commerce, Economics, or Accounting.
Professional certification: CPA-K/ACCA, CIFA, or equivalent.
Active member of a professional body in good standing.
Master's degree is an added advantage.
At least 10 years’ experience, with a minimum of 5 years in managerial positions.
Strategic Leadership Development Program (SLDP) or relevant qualification from a recognized institution (at least six weeks).
