Job Description
Role Overview
The Manager, Estate Management is responsible for overseeing the operations, maintenance, and development of properties under the Affordable Housing Board. This senior role ensures that all facilities meet safety and regulatory standards while promoting sustainable building practices, professional surveying standards, and effective policy formulation.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Operations: Coordinating and supervising maintenance and repair activities, ensuring timely and quality completion of work; overseeing the operations and maintenance of the Board’s properties and facilities.
Project Oversight: Overseeing property development and improvement projects, including renovations and expansions.
Compliance & Safety: Promoting and ensuring that affordable housing properties adhere to health, safety, and environmental standards; conducting regular inspections and implementing safety protocols.
Professional Standards: Ensuring professional standards and quality controls in building surveying.
Policy & Strategy: Formulating, implementing, and reviewing estate management policies, housing maintenance, and legislation policy.
Sustainability: Promoting and implementing sustainable practices in housing management, including energy efficiency and green building standards.
Documentation: Overseeing the preparation and updating of the maintenance manual.
Requirements & Qualifications
Experience: Cumulative service period of fifteen (15) years’ relevant work experience, with at least three (3) years at the Assistant Manager level or comparable position.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Real Estate Management, Construction Management, Valuation and Property Management, or a related field. Master’s Degree in a similar field or Business Administration.
Professional Membership: Membership in a relevant professional body in good standing and a valid Practicing Certificate where applicable.
Training: Leadership course lasting not less than four (4) weeks.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in computer applications.
Legal: Must fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
