The Manager, Credit Monitoring & Control is responsible for the execution of the Bank’s growth strategy regarding asset growth by monitoring sanctioned facilities to ensure the sustenance of a high-quality portfolio and compliance with sanction terms, conditions, and other approval covenants. The role holder supports the Head of Credit Monitoring, Reporting, and Security Documentation in driving end-to-end monitoring activities, coordinating credit monitoring operations, and ensuring maintenance of quality assets in compliance with credit policy and CBK prudential guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance Monitoring: Review and ensure compliance with sanctioned financial and non-financial covenants on credit facilities to confirm compliance and prevent breaches.
Insurance & Security Management: Follow up on insurance policy renewals and ensure that bank securities are adequately insured. Monitor up-to-date property valuations, land rates, and rent against securities pledged on customer facilities.
Collateral Review: Review and coordinate the review of collateral value information in facility letters of offer and confirm held security coverage for risk mitigation and early warning signs identification.
Disbursement Oversight: Review disbursed facilities to ensure accuracy of booking and compliance with approval terms, conditions, and covenants.
Portfolio Health: Review performance of all performing accounts periodically to ascertain health, identify early warning signs, and initiate timely remedial action.
Reporting: Prepare and coordinate Portfolio Review Reports for CRMC/BCC and business segment portfolio meetings. Ensure analysis and reporting of overdrawn accounts.
Risk Management: Perform portfolio risk management by following up on sectoral concentrations, Single Obligor Limits, and other limit thresholds as outlined in the Risk Appetite document.
Arrears Management: Review collections comments and intervene on sensitive accounts regarding exposure or progression of Days Past Due. Monitor arrears, excess limits, and expired/expiring limits.
Process Improvement: Recommend modifications to credit monitoring guidelines and procedure manuals and support Bank projects relating to credit monitoring.
Audit & Coordination: Maintain coordination between Credit Monitoring and other units (Credit Analysis, Collections, DRU, Business Development) and handle external and internal audits.
Requirements and Qualifications
Experience: Comprehensive banking background and extensive experience in credit monitoring and loan portfolio management.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a business management discipline such as Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
Professional Certification: A professional qualification in CPA, ACCA, AKIB, or equivalent.
Skills: Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (v-lookups, pivots), PowerPoint, and Outlook. Strong numeric, data analytics, and evaluation skills. Excellent communication, presentation, and report-writing abilities.
Attributes: Self-motivated, detail-oriented, ability to handle a large and varied workload simultaneously, and adaptive to change.
Technology: Exposure to Project management and Testing of Systems/Software in UAT Environment.
