Amentum is seeking a Machinery Maintenance Mechanic to support critical operations in Lamu. The Machinery Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining the operational integrity of automobiles and heavy machinery. This role involves diagnosing mechanical issues, performing repairs, and executing both preventative and reactive maintenance tasks. The mechanic also provides guidance to other team members and ensures all work meets safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Repair: Troubleshoot mechanical problems on automobiles and heavy machinery and order necessary parts for repairs.
Maintenance Execution: Perform assigned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance repairs.
Technical Guidance: Instruct mechanics on required vehicle inspection methods and analyze returned inspection reports.
System Optimization: Make recommendations on required maintenance and necessary equipment changes.
Troubleshooting: Perform expert-level technical troubleshooting and repair work.
Safety & Design: Analyze the safety of equipment and recommend design modifications when necessary.
Quality Control: Perform quality checks on work in progress and upon completion of repairs.
Knowledge and Skills
Demonstrated ability to direct and supervise the activities of others.
Skilled in the use of a variety of specialized mechanical test equipment.
Ability to interpret and apply manufacturers' repair manuals, technical specifications, schematics, engineering drawings, and diagnostic codes.
Qualifications and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent qualification (KCSE).
Typically five (5) or more years of experience in a professional mechanic role.
